The dispersing of a Si_3N_4 powder (UBE SN-E10) at high solidsloading in aqueous media was investigated. The powder was used in theas-received (raw) state, after thermal (calcinations) and/ormechanical pre-treatments (ball milling→freeze granulation→freeze-drying). Slips were prepared using pH adjustment with NH_4OHor an addition of Tiron (low-M_w sulphonic acid). Zeta potentialmeasurements of diluted systems and theological evaluations ofconcentrated suspensions were conducted. The effect of adding wheyprotein concentrate (WPC) was also studied.
