In October, ISS Executive Director Dave Kanagy and I traveled to South America to meet with ISS local and student sections. I'm happy to report that all of our organizations are doing well.In Belo Horizonte, Brazil, we attended the First International Congress on Biomass for Metal Production and Electricity Generation. The event was created by the ISS Brazilian Section Executive Director Ronaldo Santos Sampaio, as well as officers and members of the section. The two-day conference featured 52 national and 26 international technical papers. Following the technical presentations, a day was devoted to several plant tours. A total of 287 participants attended along with a number of biomass-related vendors.
