Unique magnetic and mechanical properties of amorphous andnanocrystalline metal alloys are of increasing interest. The alloysare applied as magnetic tapes, solders or reinforcing of specialrubber products (e.g. tires). The amorphous and nanocrystallinealloys types are manufactured by casting from the melting pot througha slotted nozzle and ultra fast consolidation on a rotating drum. Themelting pot and slotted nozzle made of ceramic materials shouldcharacterize high corrosion and erosion resistance. SiAlON ceramicwas taken into consideration as a prospective material for thispurpose.
