Investigation of fatigue cracks under mixed mode sinusoidal loading of 7075-T6 aluminum alloy was conducted. The effects of the initial crack inclination angle with respect to the applied load on the resulting crack propagation rate and direction of propagation is presented. Geometric moire was employed to obtain full field displacements of the specimen. The finite element was used to provide numerical results of the problem and scanning electron microscope was used to for striations and crack growth rates. The SED criterion gives a reasonable estimation of the crack path for all angles. Emphasis is placed on the fatigue crack and the application of the T-stress to the mixed mode fatigue crack problem.
