摘要

Crack detection is important for the evaluation and monitoring of offshore platforms. Crack detection criteria based on different parameters, such as frequency, modal shape,modal strain energy (MSE) and frequency response function (FRF), are illustrated. When a crack at different location and different magnitude is imposed in the underwater structure, all the parameters of the jacket are obtained numerically using Natran Code. The shift of parameters can be used to identify the crack, the location and crack magnitude. Frequency can be easily measure to detect the existence of crack in the global detection, but it cannot predict the crack location. Modal parameters can be used to localize the crack in the local detection. MSE criteria can predict very early crack. FRF can be used to predict any breakage of beams in the lower structure.
