Investors from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan owned 48.52 of China's garments industry last year. This share, according to the State Statistical Bureau, was 0.5 higher than in 2005. The total garment output during the year was 51.2 billion pieces, a 10.11 increase over 2005. Some two-thirds of that production came from small factories as above-the-modest-scale plants accounted for only 33.21 in the national output.
