Starting with the rsquo;rsquo;successive uncorrelated binary collision modelrsquo;rsquo; the kinetic part of the shear viscosity is calculated for a multicomponent dilute hard sphere gas mixture defined by the parametersnagr;(number density),magr;(mass), and sgr;agr;agr;(hard sphere diameter). The concentration dependence of the shear viscosity in a multicomponent mixture is determined within the rsquo;rsquo;one and two collision approximation.rsquo;rsquo; It is shown that the semiempirical result for a multicomponent mixture can be obtained if one uses the concentration dependence calculated for the hard sphere system together with the experimentally determined or, for realistic potentials, calculated shear viscosities of the single components of the mixture.
