In this paper, two topics of characterisation of ceramic powder surfaces by FTIR-spectroscopy are discussed. First, the comparison of different measuring techniques and secondly the surface analysis of different ceramic raw materials. The measuring methods discussed are diffuse reflection (DRIFT), transmission (trituration in perhalogenated paraffin) and photoacoustic measurements. It is demonstrated, that the photoacoustic method has advantages in characterising ceramic powders compared to the other methods.
