The refractive indices of the benzenehyphen;carbon tetrachloride system have been measured at seven different wavelengths in the visible region. These indices show only slight departure from linearity in the mole fraction. The molar refractions, calculated according to the Lorentzhyphen;Lorenz equation, are not additive in the mole fraction. Moreover, no simple relation between the molar refractions and the frequency of the light source is obtained.
