摘要

Beginning with the Millerndash;Handyndash;Adams reactionhyphen;path Hamiltonian, which is applicable to chemical reactions and photodissociation processes, we classify the modes as one reaction coordinate, (fminus;1) strongly coupled modes, and (Fminus;f) weakly coupled modes. We derive a reducedhyphen;dimensionality Hermitian Hamiltonian forfexplicit modes such that the (Fminus;f) weakly coupled modes are treated adiabatically and their coupling to the reaction coordinate due to reactionhyphen;path curvature is included implicity. The reduction is achieved two ways: one based on a smallhyphen;curvaturehyphen;tunneling approximation and one based on a more general semiclassicalhyphen;path assumption for the weakly coupled modes.
