West Java, the home for about 68 of Indonesia's estimated 2,500 textile and garment establishments, is about to get a shot in the arm. The Indonesian government, it is understood, has earmarked a 500-hectare area in Majalengka, one of West Java's 16 regencies, for housing the entire range of textile industry from downstream to mainstream for their well-organised development. A feasibility study by the industry ministry had recommended Majalengka as the right place for building a home for the textile and clothing industry.
