This article describes an orientation process in psychosocial nursing aimed at reducing students' anxiety and developing their confidence in the therapeutic use of self. The author explains how to use videotaped interviews with peers, followed by a self-discovery experience in which students and instructor view and discuss the taped interviews, to increase students' self-awareness and initiate a trusting, growth-stimulating, student-instructor relationship.
