Analysis of interdiffusion in the CH3OHndash;CCl4system and C2H5OHndash;CCl4system was carried out for a multicomponent diffusion model in which alcohol polymers of various degrees of association were regarded as separate diffusion units. The distribution of the degree of association necessary for the analysis was calculated from the infrared absorption spectrum data. Selfhyphen;diffusion coefficients of alcohol polymers relative to that of the monomer were estimated by analogy with the selfhyphen;diffusion coefficients of a series of alkanes in their CCl4solutions. The theoretical interdiffusion coefficients calculated with these data by a multicomponent diffusion equation showed satisfactory agreement with the experimentally determined interdiffusion coefficients.
