Aqueous suspensions of alumina powder with different binder compositions were developed for the tape casting process. A slurry containing 15 wt of a mixture constituted by 70 of a binder with a low Tg (-40℃) and 30 of a binder with a high Tg (+10℃) was selected for the production of green tapes used for the fabrication of thin-walled tubes. A technique based on isostatic pressing of a green tape on a fugitive shape was developed. Straight and curved tubes of alumina with diameters from 2 mm up to 10 mm were successfully fabricated by this technique.
