EIA crude and product inventories increased over the week ending Feb. 2 by 6.5MM bbl to 743.5MM bbl, led by surging gasoline supplies. Stocks of gasoline soared 6.2MM bbl to 236.2MM bbl, outpacing forecasts for a 1.9MM-bbl rise and marking the fifth consecutive weekly increase. On the other hand, middle distillate inventories fell 1.6MM bbl, setding at 164.1MM bbl; analysts had expected a 700K-bbl draw.
