Codelco SA, Chile, has awarded SMS Demag AG, Germany, a contract to supply a turnkey submerged arc furnace plant. The plant will be located at Codelco's Chuquicamata works in Northern Chile. Startup is scheduled for August 2002.SMS, LOI Thermprocess and Siemens have received an order from Handan Iron Steel Group Co. Ltd, PR. China, to extend the single-strand CSP plant that went into operation in 1999.
