The behavior of linear bent macromolecules with some flexibility is considered. The lsquo;lsquo;trumbellrsquo;rsquo; model with a restoring force at the hinge is extended by shifting the minimum energy configuration of the spring to an arbitrary bend angle Dgr;. The results show three main contributions: (1) the slowest relaxation lgr;1corresponds to nearly pure endhyphen;overhyphen;end rotation. (2) the next relaxation lgr;2is associated with the fastest rotational mode of the model, (3) the fastest relaxation lgr;3is a mixed bendhyphen;rotation proportional to the relative force constantZof the spring. The two rotational modes dominate the Kerrhyphen;effect behavior of the model while the fast bendinghyphen;related mode becomes dominant at high frequencies in the viscoelastic behavior of the model.
