The observation of self-generating high-order diffraction associated with a conical ring in LiNbO↓(3) on which two extraordinarily polarized beams are incident is reported. We propose that Bragg-mismatching diffraction, Bragg degeneracy, and multiple scattering through two-wave mixing could be responsible for the high-order diffraction and the conical ring. # 1999 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers.
