An electrode assembly has been constructed for the purpose of measuring polarographically rates of photosynthetic or respiratory oxygen exchange of biological systems while exposed to hydrostatic pressures of up to 1400 atm. The apparatus may also be used to measure changes in dissolved oxygen concentration brought about by metabolic activity while under pressure. Some typical results are presented.
