A tin oxide nanosized powder synhesized by laser evaporation hasbeen characterised by Fourier transform infrared surfacespectrometry. A thermal treatment under vacuum led to a loss ofStoichiometry partly restored by further oxidation. Moreover, severaltypes of adsorbed oxygen are Observed. The acido-basicity of thesurface has been investigated by addition of various molecules (CO,CO_2 and pyridine). Then, a correlation between the variations of thediffused infrared energy and the electrical properties of the tinoxide nanopowder is shown by consecutive additions of oxidizing andreducing gases.
