Paramagnetic resonance has been observed at 4.2deg;K in magnetically dilute single crystals and powders of bishydrotris(1hyphen;pyrazolyl)borateCo(II) and bistris(1hyphen;pyrazolyl)methaneCo(II) chelate systems. The chelate structure for both types of compound hasD3dsymmetry, and the principalgtensor components show large axial anisotropy. In conjunction with optical data for these complexes, the results are analyzed in terms of the theory of Abragam and Pryce. In addition to the experimentally determinedgvalues for the lowest Kramers doublet in these complexes, approximategvalues and splittings are established for the other levels in the ground state manifold. Magnetically dilute powder measurements are described both for the compounds studied as single crystals and for a number of other cases where crystals could not be grown.
