The (0,0), (1,1), and (2,2) vibrational bands of the weak, spin forbiddenbthinsp;1Sgr;+thinsp;rarr;thinsp;Xthinsp;3Sgr;minus;transition of the PH radical have been observed in a flowing afterglow of PH3in He. The spectra yield the following constants for the upperbstate:Te=(14thinsp;325.5plusmn;0.1) cmminus;1,Be=(8.587plusmn;0.003) cmminus;1,we=(2403.0plusmn;0.1) cmminus;1,Dv=(4.0plusmn;0.05times;10minus;4) cmminus;1, agr;e=(0.0253plusmn;0.003) cmminus;1, andre=(1.4178plusmn;0.0004) Aring;. The intensity distribution is consistent with the mixing of thebthinsp;1Sgr;+state almost exclusively with theAthinsp;3Pgr; state.
