Several times during the past year, pages provided by both Man Cramb and me contained updates concerning the Ad Hoc Committee on Conference Consolidation. That work has been completed and turned over to Bill Barker; our president-elect designate, who heads the Transition Team that will make the consolidation a reality in 2003. I can report that his team is doing an excellent job and is well on its way to organizing the initial conference. However, there is also another Ad Hoc Committee within the Iron Steel Society, of which many of you may not be aware, that is doing an excellent job as well. About a year ago, Past-President Cramb asked Ian Sadler; president-elect of the Society; to head an Ad Hoc Committee on Society Governance and Structure. The purpose of the committee was to examine the Society's current structure and determine how appropriate and effective it currently is given the many changes that have occurred within the industry over 27 years. A team representative from each of the divisions was identified under Ian's leadership. They have already met for two days in May at the ISS headquarters and again in August.
