Achieving a 48 hour round the clock shut down with some 6 hours to spare certainly tested the skills and commitment of all Fairport Engineering': staff, suppliers and subcontractors but this exceptional result was achieved over the 1 7th and 18th February 2010 at Orchid Environmental, waste processing plant at Huyton, Liverpool. This unique waste recycling plant was originally constructed in 2008 as part of DEFRA's Waste Demonstrator programme but since last year has been operated by Orchid as a commercial venture and also used as a test-bed for its patented technology as well as trialling other processing technologies to improve product quality and consistency with a variety of different feedstocks.
