Attention is called to the fact that a claimed quantitative relationship between cathodic hydrogen overvoltage and the (gashyphen;phase) heat of adsorption of atomic hydrogen on the electrode material is not quantitative, and an attempt is made to correct the impression that this relationship is general and well established. An indication is given of the kinds of information necessary before a quantitative test can be made.
