CAT is located at the Corporate Research and Development Laboratories in Amagasaki City; near Osaka. CAT is a virtual organization consolidating SMI (including the head office, laboratories and steel works) and its subsidiaries -Sumitomo Metals (Kokura) Ltd., of specialty steel bars and wire rods; Sumitomo Metals (Naoetsu) Ltd., of stainless steel precision rolling products; Sumitomo Metal Steel Products Inc., of a wide range of steel products primarily used in construction applications; and Sumitomo Pipe Tube Co. Ltd., of conduit tubes and welded pipes.
