The carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide matrix composites weredeveloped by the combined process of chemical vapor infiltration(CVI) and precursor impregnation pyrolysis (PIP). The properties ofthe composites were characterized also. The combined processdemonstrated short manufacturing period and capability of achievinghigh-performance composites, with high flexural strength (643 MPa)and high fracture toughness (17.91 MPa.m~1/2)
