Depending on the wire dimension range, MAG's latest take-up system can run spools of 160 mm up to 630 mm flange diameter at speeds of up to 1200 m/min. The spoolers are controlled by a separate PLC of the latest generation, independent from the rest of the magnet wire machine. The weight-on dancer adjusts the wire tension and is also used to control the spindle speeds. The mechanical design of the spooler allows reels to be loaded and unloaded very easily. By sliding the cylindrical protective covers (patent pending), the operator has free access to the spindles. Due to the protective covers, the operator is always protected from rotating parts, even when unloading a full reel while the second spindle is running. This ensures a very high grade of operator safety, whilst still being easy to handle.
