JX Holdings signed an initial agreement with Saudi Aramco in Tokyo on Tuesday to study the feasibility of building a new refinery and petrochemical complex in Saudi Arabia, the company has confirmed. A spokesman from the Japanese firm said the memorandum of understanding (MOU) followed a proposal made by Saudi Aramco to one of its senior executives during a trip to Saudi Arabia last month. It is not a concrete agreement, but the MOU aims to explore opportunities in the midstream and downstream sectors, he said.
