Friction and wear characteristics of sintered Fe-Cu powder material

摘要

To clarify the effect of the median size of particle and the air permeability on the friction and wear characteristics of the sintered Fe-Cu powder material, wear tests were carried out under bath lubrication using a Tuya-type tribometer. The cylindrical test specimens (rotatory) made of S45C were slid against the block test specimens (stationary) made of sintered Fe-Cu powder material. The test blocks were made by a dry process and a wet process. For the case of dry process, the teat blocks were made of four kinds of the median size of particle. From the tests results, it was clear that the test block D2 of which the median size of particle was 70μm and the air permeability was 14×10{sup}(-3) darcy exhibited the best performance on the friction and wear characteristics. For the case of test block D2, the coefficient of friction was about 0.015 after 4 hr since the test was run, and the specific wear amount of test block D2 within the region of steady-state wear was the smallest in the test blocks. Further, the order of the bulk temperature rise for the test blocks after 4 hr since the test was run agreed with that of the coefficient of friction for the test blocks.
