UK competition authorities have said there are "reasonable grounds" to believe Amec Foster Wheeler's plan to sell its UK oil and gas business will satisfy their concerns over its planned merger with Wood Group (IOD Aug.4'17). Earlier this month, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said a tie-up between the two oil-field services rivals would reduce the number of major players in the UK market from four to three, and could end up raising costs across the basin.
