“Tuberculosis (TB) still remains a major life-threatening disease in the world.” It is almost the stereotype sentence describing the situation of TB in the world today. World Health Organisation reports that approximately 8.7 million new TB cases are estimated globally, and 1.4 million patients die from the disease 1. In the same report, they estimate approximately 630,000 multi-drug resistant TB (MDR-TB) cases in 2011. Furthermore, it is estimated that approximately 1/3 of world's population is already infected by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The TB infected people, so called latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI), will serve as a reservoir of active disease. These figures evidence the first sentence and will require proper countermeasures to sort out the current and future health problems.
