摘要

Malnutrition is a frequent and important medical problem for people aged 65 years and older. Although malnutrition is related with various complications, serious morbidity, and even mortality in community dwelling, hospitalized or institutionalized older adults, its screening and management is not being performed sufficiently, especially in nursing homes, resulting in a delay of early diagnosis. The prevalence of malnutrition in older adults is reported as 5 to 10 in free-living ones, reaches to 30 to 60 in hospitalized and rises up to 85 in institutionalized ones . A study from our country determined 28 frequency in malnutrition risk within older adults derived from an outpatient clinic .
