I wonder if people made such a fuss when electricity was invented, as they ate making about the advent of the worldwide web. In any event there ate interesting parallels... Fur example, nut everyone had access to electricity; it was so new a concept, people weren't actually sure how to regard it (but they probably thought it was all mumbo jumbo); people were also quite slow to see the potential, and so forth. However, it equally had the potential to revolutionize our lives. I believe there is a degree of dishonesty in most peoples' approach to the Internet. Web-site users, designers, surfers and shoppers are all leaping up and down at the prospect of the new technological revolution. Microsoft's Bill Gates has gone on record saying that companies that aren't involved with the Internet will not be trading in the future and Tony Blair is having lessons in using the Internet. Face it, our lives will be radically altered by this, but we're all going to come towards accepting it at our own pace and in our own way. Business will lead the way, by nature of the fact that it has more money to invest in equipment, software, training and electronic business links - not to mention a voracious appetite for information. The volume growth, however, will come about through acceptance in the domestic sector. Why? Well, simply because there are more households than there are businesses.
