Brazil-based global mining giant Vale announced June 24 that it plans to grow palm-oil trees in the Amazon rain forest, then process the palm-oil to make biodiesel that would help power its diesel machinery, trains and trucks. Vale posted on its own website a Financial Times article describing the plan.
