Bucyrus International Inc.'s subsidiary Bucyrus Australia announced the sale of a second 49RIII Blast Hole Drill to P.T. Freeport Indonesia. It will be shipped to the world's largest gold mine, Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold's Grasberg operations (Irian Jaya, Indonesia) along with a growing fleet of Bucyrus drills and 495B shovels.The 49R is known for such features as chainless rack and pinion pulldown, state-of-the-art drive systems, and a chain-less hydrostatic propel with planetary drives (providing counter-rotation steering). Bucyrus continues to focus on the comfort and safety of the machine operator and maintenance personnel by providing a pressurized sound dampened, temperature controlled operators cab and an automatic leveling system with four hydraulic jacks. In the near future Bucyrus International will produce the 100th 49R unit at its facility at South Milwaukee, Wis., U.S.A.
