Caterpillar has upgraded the 16H motor grader to achieve higher productivity and lower operating cost. A new electronically controlled CAT 3196 engine offers 9 percent greater rimpull and superior lugging performance, improved fuel efficiency and increased reliability, according to the manufacturer. The optional variable horsepower (VHP) system provides precise delivery of power as the system automatically adjusts according to gear selection. Advances in control, comfort and viewing area enhance operator efficiency. Re-engineered inspection and service points as well as extended fluid change intervals reduce maintenance time and operating cost. VHP restricts power when traction is limited and increases power in higher gears when the machine can use the additional power. The result is greater efficiency and higher productivity. Power range for the 16H is 265 hp to 285 hp.
