Joining the IED is a straightforward process that brings many benefits. However, it can sometimes be difficult to persuade friends and colleagues that the IED is the correct organisation for them. Here we examine the advantages of membership and look at the application process through the eves of new members. Established in 1945, the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) is the UK's most prestigious professional body for designers operating in the various fields of engineering design, which include product design, architecture, the automotive, marine and aircraft industries.
