摘要

in various settings worldwide, many different commercially available FDA-approved nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs), as well as other commercially available NAATs plus in-house NAATs, are utilized in the diagnosis of Neisseria gonor-rhoeae. The performance characteristics of these NAATs substantially differ with respect to sensitivity, specificity, precision, etc. In our recent study (5), we for the first time substantially challenged the specificity of most commercially available and approved diagnostic NAATs, including the latest generation, by testing many diverse (geographically, temporally, and genetically) strains of Neisseria meningitidis, as well as many commensal Neisseria species.
