摘要

This is a time to think outside the box. Engineering management education has focused on a subset of the employment problem, i.e., providing graduates for jobs in established organizations, ignoring the needs of startups. According to a Census Bureau study based on data from 1976 to 2005, Haltiwanger et al. (2008) found that annually, two-thirds of new jobs in the U.S. were created by new firms. A significant portion of these jobs are based in the technology sector. Even though there are an estimated 600 engineering schools in the U.S. (College Bluebook, 2011), only 23 engineering programs offer formal technological entrepreneurship education.
