huelva—Onubafruit is banking on its new raspberry varieties to help bring renewed success to Huelva's berry sector, which has suffered a decline in profitability in recent years.The transformation of Huelva's soft fruit industry continues apace, with a surge of investment in new varieties reducing the traditional dominance of strawberries in favour of other lines. Figures from grower-exporter association Freshuelva, show that strawberries accounted for 6340ha of the 9,46oha planted in 2014/15, a fall of 9.2 per cent on the previous season. Raspberries, blueberries and blackberries, meanwhile, have seen an increase of around 25 per cent in acreage this season.
