A new European Union impact study has revealed that if morecrop protection products are removed from the market, quality food supplies will be put at risk and unemployment will rise, costing the bloc's economy "billions of euros". The study, carried out by consultancy group Steward Redqueen and based on information provided by EU member organisations, looked at the cumulative impact in the EU of having a hazard-based legislativeapproach for assessing crop protection products, instead of a risk-based one.
