After last year's frosts, which had a significant impact on Israel's potato volumes and opened the door to other sources, growers say they expect major improvements this year. This year, potato growers in Israel are grateful to have all but escaped the frost. In January 2008, severe frosts proved highly destructive to the crop, giving growers from Egypt and Cyprus the opportunity to take advantage of a new gap on the market. Now, Israeli growers are preparing to take back those markets.
