Statoil has hit pay in its Opal exploration well inthe Norwegian North Sea, with the find likely to bedeveloped as a tieback to existing infrastructurein the Gullfaks area.Wildcat well 34/10-53 A was drilled about 5kmwest of the Gullfaks S?r field, in the northern partof the North Sea.The well is a sidetrack from wildcat well34/10-53 S, where a gas/condensate discoverywas made earlier this year.
