摘要

Steel ladles are required to be heated and soaked properly to 1100-1200C in ladle heating stands before tapping of liquid steel to arrest any significant fall in liquid steel temperature. It is well established that consistent heating of ladles to 1200C before tapping helps in reducing the steel tapping temperature by more than 20 C. Accurate prediction of ladle refractory lining temperature distribution at different stages of steel making process helps in optimisation of the converter temperature prior to tapping of steel. It reduces energy consumption by reducing tapping temperature and improve refractory lining life of converter. In this study, a model has been developed which helps in understanding the change in ladle refractory temperature distribution during heating, cooling and solidification periods based on refractory temperature measurement in a 100 kg steel ladle.
