The economic growth of any country has been traditionally taken to be an indicator of growth of its commodity and service sectors. The strong linkages between the macro behaviour of the economy and its individual constituents have been found to be weakening over the years as the basic elements contributing to GDP growth in a particular economy kept on changing their courses arising out of policy prescriptions and of the compulsions of growth mechanism.
