Vale completed the acquisition of the remaining 24.5% of the Belvedere coking coal projectfrom Aquila Resources for a total of A$170m (US$173m) on February 26. Vale plans todevelop the mine as soon as it finishes the feasibility study and it aims for thecommencement of coal production in 2016. The mine will have a ROM coal productioncapacity of 7Mtpa based on two longwall mining systems.
