BUILT on the technical foundation of the Compact Sonic head, Sonic Sampling & Supply is now offering simultaneous rotation in both the Compact Roto-Sonic (CRS) head and the more powerful Mid-Sonic. Roto-Sonic heads provide the continuous cutting action required for drilling in more competent? formations such as limestone, sandstone, siltstone and coarse sediments. The CRS drill head uses the simple, eccentric system and housing of the Compact Sonic head and adds a rotary spindle. The new CRS 2 X 5 head produces 20,0001b of foroe with a rotary speed of up to 200rpm and 2,000ft/lb of torque. Power requirements are 140hp, which allows the use of water or air to improve borehole flushing. The Mid-Sonic head produces 40,0001b of force; more than double the pull-back and feed force of the Compact Sonic, and it has a two-speed rotary motor.
