Russia's Gazprom Neft has created a technology program for the development of its oil caps at large fields that should help the company bring some 1.58 billion barrels of crude oil buried between significant gas reserves into production. Gazprom Neft said oil caps located at the company's fields hold more than 500 million tons (3.66 billion barrels) of crude oil, of which only 300 million tons can currently be extracted using existing technologies. The company's new technology program should help extract the remaining 200 million tons.
