Dr Lawrence D. Eicher ISO Secretary General, paid an official visit to Hungary at the invitation of Mr Gyorgy Ponyai, Director General of the Hungarian Standards Institution (MSZT). Dr Eicher took part in the MSZT Standards Council Meeting in Budapest on 8 May 2001 on the occasion of the Both Anniversary of Hungarian standardization. As part of his working visit to Budapest, Dr Eicher met Dr Gyorgy Matolcsy, Hungary's Minister of Economic Affairs, looking at perspectives of national and international standardization, as well as the country's State Secretary, Mr Ivan Baba, reviewing questions related to environmental, economic and social impacts of globalization, including questions on ISO-WTO relations.
